Jackie Taylor:

Jackie would be flattered at first, just absolutely enjoying the attention you're giving her and basking in the idea that someone values her that much. She'd just casually lean into it, and be all playful with you.

“Wow, you really missed me even though I was only gone for five minutes?”

But if your clinginess ever became too much, she'd lowkey try creating space from you; using excuses like needing to focus on something else. She wouldn't want to hurt your feelings and would try hard to soften any pushback with reassurance.

“You're sweet, really. Just, like, give me a little room to breathe, okay?”

Shauna Shipman:

Shauna would be a little awkward about it, unsure how to handle someone being so attached to her. But she'd tolerate it to an extent, especially if it seemed like genuine affection to her; making jokes about it eventually and easing tension.

“You really don't have to follow me everywhere, you know”

She'd say that with a small laugh. Despite her discomfort, she wouldn't be that harsh. And if you just happened to be one of the lucky people, she might secretly find it endearing that someone values her that much.

Taissa Turner:

Taissa would definetely take it in stride, appreciating you being loyal and close to her that way. She's naturally protective, so she might view your clinginess in a way as you trusting and feeling safe around her.

However, if it started interfering with her personal space or responsibilities, Tai would address it immediately and directly but kindly with you. She'd be firm, and understanding!

“Hey, I love hanging out with you, but I need to focus on this right now, okay? We can catch up later.”

Van Palmer:

Van would be amused by your clinginess, she wouldn't take it too serious and would probably even tease you with a grin about it every once in a while. She wouldn't mind the extra attention as long as it isn't constant.

She'd probably find it cute that someone cares that much. But if it ever became too much? she'd probably nudge you gently toward independence like a mother would with her own clingy child.

Natalie Scatorrcio:

Natalie definitely might have been caught off guard by your clinginess at first because she's not used to people being so openly attached to her that way, but she would just brush it off.

Over time, she would eventually warm up to it, seeing it as your way of showing affection to her. Of course, if it ever crossed a line, Nat would be straightforward about it with you. It'll be short and cool.

“Hey, I need some space right now, okay? Nothing personal.”

Lottie Matthews:

Lottie would handle your clinginess with an odd calmness and grace. Similarly to Tai, she'd see this as a sign of you trusting and valuing her. This would mean a lot to her despite what you think, and she'd hold it on a very high careful pedestal.

Lottie might even encourage your clinginess to some degree, just offering reassurance whenever you seem worried or needy. But if it starts to overwhelm her, expect her to guide you on being more self-reliant and practicing boundaries!

“It's okay, I'm here.”

Laura Lee:

Laura Lee would see your clinginess as a sign of you seeing her as someone comforting, which she'd take as a compliment. She'd be patient and kind with you, being very understanding and even encouraging a bit.

If it started becoming too much, she's addressing it like a therapist would with their patient. She'll suggest much "healthier" ways to spend time together without you being overly attached to her.

Misty Quigley:

I think Nat is a huge horror movie fan (specifically 80s slasher and demonic possession) and loves edgy gothic vibes. I also think she would love some artsy indie movies about sex and challenging gender roles (and just some cool action movies with hot badass women).

We all know Misty is a theater kid. She loves musicals and I think girlie is definitely singing Sweeney Todd and Phantom of the Opera songs to herself 24/7. I know Jackie loves a good chick flick, particularly those with homoerotic subtexts. I think, if she had gotten to live long enough to start coming to terms with her sexuality, But I’m a Cheerleader would definitely be her gay awakening. And then Bottoms once she’s tip-toed out of the closet a little bit more (RIP Jackie Taylor you would have LOVED Bottoms). And of course, I had to add Beaches because of the “Are you quoting Beaches at me right now?” line, and also because I think Jackie would watch it and shed a secret tear because it makes her think of her and Shauna.

Van

Van would definitely refuse to watch anything past the 90s. She loves comedy classics and queer staples. I know Van quotes The Godfather in the full Italian accent constantly (especially around Nat to piss her off) and she’s watched The Princess Bride an ungodly amount of times and knows pretty much every line (Buttercup was her queer awakening).

Shauna

Like Jackie, Shauna love movies about intense (homoerotic) friendships. I know she relates to Needy in Jennifer’s Body living in Jennifer’s (Jackie’s) shadow and resenting her for it but also being so obsessed and intertwined with her; and she also just loves the visuals and its satire on female exploitation. Shauna maybe relates to and roots for Pearl a little too much, she loves a movie about a woman desperate for recognition and teetering on the edge of insanity while maintaining a sweet and innocent facade. Also I can see adult Shauna in particular just being charmed by Little Women (partly because of the love triangle but mostly because of the womanhood and female friendship themes).

Laura Lee

Laura Lee loves uplifting and wholesome movies. I can see her shamelessly liking kid’s movies well into adulthood. She likes movies centered around helping people in need like The Rescuers or going through hardship and discovering faith like Soul Surfer. Girl is religious-religious so her favorites are definitely going to be centered around faith and Christianity. But she also just likes a simple feel-good film; the cheesiest, sappiest movies you can imagine.

Lottie

Okay Lottie was hard to pinpoint but I’m pretty sure she would like angsty, artsy shit. Like, in high school, she would pretend to love chick flicks like the rest of her classmates but when she gets home she’s putting on the darkest and most depressing weird girl movie you’ve ever seen. I think she likes Suspiria for the occult themes, the otherworldly feeling of it, and eccentricities of the main character who never knows what’s real and what’s not, which she relates to. I think she likes some mental illness movies like Donnie Darko because of her diagnosis and upbringing and The Virgin Suicides because she’s lonely and feels overly-controlled by her parents. And Amelie because she once again relates to the loneliness and likes that the main character discovers her gift for helping people. I think Lottie would prioritize good cinematography and visuals in movies, too.

I don’t think Lottie would really watch movies as an adult because she would be too busy running a cult and disconnecting from society, which is why these picks are centered around Teen Lottie.

HOWEVER, this is one of my favorite laura lee-centric fics, and the way lottielee is written here is soooo good. Highly recommend this for the lottielee dynamic because it's so delicious.

So we’ve seen Shauna, Jackie’s (and Laura lees?) rooms, so in your opinion what would the other YJ’s bedrooms look like? (I love interior design so I’m curious to see what you think)

Sure, I can give you my thoughts/ theories! (Shauna, Jackie, and Laura Lee’s rooms are seen in the pilot but we also see Natalie’s in 01x04 and Misty’s in 01x02 so I didn’t cover those rooms either).

Van: Based off of what we see in adult Van’s house, I think that her teen self would have lots of movie posters and the start of her camera collection displayed prominently around her room. Unrelated, I think Van would have lots of soccer gear/sports stuff lying around. There’s also probably some Sleeter Kinney posters/cassettes to go with all the t-shirts she’s said to have.

Taissa: Taissa comes from money so I think she’d have a lot of expensive stuff but in a more understated “quiet luxury” way. Because Taissa is very much a “type a” person, I believe her room would be very tidy and practical, everything would be in its spot and everything would have somewhere it’s supposed to go. I also think Taissa would take a lot of pride in the awards/achievements she’s received so they would all be showcased in her room either on the wall or on shelves.

Lottie: I think she’d have a lot of expensive decor but most of it wouldn’t be anything she particularly likes. It sounds like her dad just throws money at her in attempts to be a good parent so I kind of wonder if maybe he buys her a lot of things but they’re never quite right in terms of stuff she actually wants. I also feel as though the expectation in her house is that everything needs to look like a home decor magazine so they wouldn’t really have a lot of “personal stuff.” That paired with her own struggles with her sense of self, I don’t think her room would be very expressive. I do think her room would have lots of pink in it though as that seems to have been her signature color.

Mari: In the first season (especially early on) you see that Mari really looks up to Jackie and wants to be closer friends. Because of that, I’d think that her room would try to emulate Jackie’s or otherwise have things that would be considered cool/popular. She wears similar brands to Jackie so I’d think that maybe she does come from money and would have some expensive decor. I also feel as though she’s have magazine posters of her favorite 90s heartthrobs on her walls.

Akilah: Based off of the way she talks about her sister and nephew, I think she’d have lots of family photos either framed or tacked onto a bulletin board in her room. l also feel as though she’d have a desk that she could use for homework. In season 1 I recall Akilah talking about being a girl scout so maybe she’d have her sash draped on her desk chair or closet door?

I’m not really passionate about any of these descriptions it’s just kind of the vibe I get from the characters. But what about you guys, what do you think the Yellowjacket’s rooms are like?

I’m so sorry this took me so long to finally get around to 😭 BUT we are here now so yay

But yes! I do like to think that Laura Lee was one of the only girls to really entertain Misty’s attempts at friendship, especially pre-crash. Chatting while Laura Lee takes a break to get water, helping her when she inevitably gets scrapped up on the field, etc.

Laura Lee definitely convinced Misty to come to church with her, but Misty has always struck me as ‘ex-Catholic to the bones’ while Laura Lee is definitely Baptist or some form of Evangelical Christian (if she had longer hair I would even say Pentecostal, but seeing as she has a cute little bob (ish?) she definitely isn’t) so it didn’t go very well lmao. I can see them getting ice cream together after, and Laura Lee asking Misty to at least still come over for Bible study. Misty agrees, not because she actually wants to but more so just to spend time with the girl.

They spend most of the afternoon talking Bible semantics and philosophy, maybe even pausing to have dinner with Laura Lee’s parents. Her parents are definitely not a fan of Misty, mostly because they are scared any ‘non-Christian’ influences on their daughter will lead her astray, but they tolerate it.

I also think, after they crash, they are the ones that do most of the domestic work. Laura Lee and Misty help keep the cabin clean, taking time to try and make it feel more like a home. I can see Misty and her doing laundry together in shared silence, just enjoying each other’s presence.

also also also I think Laura Lee (if she survived) would have sacrificed Javi to save Lottie, just like how Misty sacrificed him to save Natalie— they both have that unending dedication to the people they truly love. Laura Lee might also have forgiven Misty for the black box, though I’m less confident in that than I am with Lottie forgiving her.

Soulmates.

I was in a discord server earlier, and we got to talking about the Yellowjackets as soulmates, and I thought I'd share those thoughts here, just a nice little put together catalogue of all those thoughts put together. I might add to this, too, as more pairings and relationships come to me.

For the record, I want to point out that I think that all of these characters are soulmates, far beyond ship dynamics, far beyond romance. What makes up the insides of one makes up the insides of the others because they are all the same: teenage girls trapped in either growing or decaying bodies. Their souls are all mated to the others in some way or another.

Tai and Van are a pair. Two separate souls that are a part of a matched set, like socks. They can be worn mismatched, certainly, but they really are at their best together. Tai gives Van a purpose. Van calms Tai's "demons." They can exist without each other, live without each other, love without each other, but they just are at their best together.

Lottie and Nat are that sort of star-crossed soulmates, doomed soulmates. There's a red string of fate but its severed somewhere in the middle. They can be good for each other, laugh and smile and hold each other close. They can be the worst of each other, holding knives to each other's throats, laughing in the face of it. They're the epitome of a missed chance. What kind of missed chance? That's up for you to decide.

Misty and Nat are the kind of soulmates that don't seem like they'd match, but they work so good together. The believer and the skeptic (though who is who changes with the circumstance, the belief, the skepticism). Orange and blue. Salt and sweet. Chaotic good and lawful evil. They're diametrically opposed but in a way that makes sense, in a way that works together. They each feed off of what makes the other their opposite. One is running, the other is chasing. Of course one would die at the hand of the other.

Lottie and Laura Lee are the kind of soulmates where each thinks they are the worshipper while the other is the god. A prophet, a believer, a worship under the sun. Souls that just burn brighter around each other (and that pun was unintentional the first time but very intentional with the emphasis). Both want to help the other. Both want to hold the other. They are belief without boundaries personified. Each is Icarus. Each is the sun.

Tai and Shauna are soulmates in a way that recognizes "That is my person." Two people that have so much in common, who understand each other, who both recognize the want in the other. They have an understanding and a care for each other that's fierce. I see you, you see me, ad it might not be pretty, but we will be honest with each other. Especially as the two of them have aged; time has not erased their understanding of one another.

Jackie and Nat are soulmates in a way that isn't explored a lot in the show but has been discussed, from what I've seen, really well. Foils. Two sides of the same coin. Opposites. Rich girl, poor girl. Prude, slut. There are certain stereotypes around both of them that, from a glance, seem to play out. One only needs to look deeper to really see it. Unfortunately, from the show, we never really see the two of them see past their expectations of each other.

Jackie and Shauna. Two heads, one heart. I don't know where you end and I begin and all that. We've been there, we've done that. We know it by heart. They're not a pair because a pair implies separation, and there is none. You can cut out your heart, and you can even replace it, but it's never the same. They're two shattered halves of the same fucked up whole. When one piece is gone, the hole cannot be filled properly ever again. There are some species of worms that, when worm cut in half, can keep living as two separate entities. That does not negate the fact that it was once one whole creature. They're unhealthy together. They're unnatural apart. One did not live long enough to remedy either of these facts.

(If Jackie's heart was still beating, I know it would beat in time with Shauna's. I hope Shauna ate it to feel it beat with hers one last time.)

van and lottie’s relationship means the absolute world to me, i love writing about them.

and van’s acolyteship in general

firstly, van is the first true acolyte we see on this show. she sees something in lottie, before anybody else does. even in the first few episodes, we see her looking up to lottie, listening to what she says. van has always had a sort of emotional connection to lottie that their being stranded in the wilderness allowed to grow and become something absolutely devotional. an acolyte by definition is a server, companion, or follower to a specific person or religious figure. although some people might say laura lee, mari, or even misty were that acolyte to lottie, it’s always been van in my head. she was the first real BELIEVER of the surviving group. as far as we know, none of the surviving girls truly believed in the wilderness religion the way that van did. she’s able to sense something in lottie and connect to that, and that is what ultimately starts her descent into whatever madness she falls into in the wilderness.

to me, this relationship isn’t technically one-sided, although i think that van is on the heavier end of it. i mean, it’s the classic devotion and their devotee. we see this theme in van a lot, whether it’s in her relationship with tai, or her commitment to the good of the group. if you’ll allow me to go off on a bit of a tangent about van for a second- her birthday is july 11th (from some light googling i did), making her a cancer (LIKE ME). bottom line of the cancer zodiac is home, family, community, protection of their loved ones, which is very van and i always think of that when thinking of her relationships with other people. it’s easy for a cancer to slip into that type of devotional, one-sided dependency on other people, and i think that’s something we’re seeing with van and lottie. 

my focus when thinking or writing about this particular pairing is usually van, because there is more for me to dive into there, but let’s talk about lottie’s end for a second. first thing that comes to mind is lottie just being purely grateful for van. not grateful for the fact that van puts her on some kind of pedestal, but grateful for the fact that van believes in her. in lottie, as a person. that she cares about her, and actually hears her out instead of brushing her off like some of the others. when i say that, i mean earlier episodes of season one, like that scene where lottie gives van the deer bone and instead of calling her crazy, she takes it and she uses it. she takes lottie’s dreams into account, she believes in lottie. lottie has lived her whole life with a mental illness nobody wanted to deal with, especially her parents. not wanting to deal with her schizophrenia became just plainly not wanting to deal with her. but out here in the wilderness, van sees her, and she listens. unlike shauna, or tai, or nat, when lottie talks about the spirits of the woods and her belief in nature, van absorbs it. she takes it completely to heart. lottie can see that, and she likes the feeling of being not only seen, but understood. don’t take this to mean that i think lottie likes becoming a sort of religious figurehead to the girls- that isn’t what i’m getting at. i just mean that she is happy to have somebody understand, and for somebody to actually be interested in her ideas and not shove them aside like a problem to be solved.

quick laura lee sidebar on this note, because i can already smell the “laura lee was lottie’s first believer!” replies- not that it isn’t true in some aspects, of course, just wanted to clear up why i said it was van and not her. the way i see it, laura lee is like thee agent of god. she looks up to him, she exudes him, she looks for him everywhere and in everything. i think laura lee falls back on her faith a little with lottie in a bit of a refusal to think that lottie really just might be crazy. or maybe that thought never even crosses her mind. either way, what laura lee truly believes in is god. lottie is a vessel for him, and although she believes that lottie has having visions, those visions are sent by god. her beliefs never changed, just the outlet for them. she didn’t believe the visions were purely lottie, she believed they were a gift from higher power. i don’t really know if any of what i just said made sense, but thats my two cents on the laura lee acolyte situation. i’m also a huge lottielee truther so please nobody come at me, i love them both and i love laura lee in general. 

another quick thing before i wrap up- something i love about the lottievan relationship is that van doesn’t pressure lottie like the other girls do. she doesn’t pit lottie against nat during the lottie vs nat hunting scenes, she doesn’t twist lottie’s words or make up straight lies about her like misty does, she doesn’t use her as anything other than a person she believes in. granted, van does put her up on a pedestal like the other girls who follow her do, and she does things in her name, but she does this because of lottie’s direct influence, not gossip among the girls or propaganda, for lack of a better term. lotties influence on van in general is the cause of so many little subplots and undertones in this show. she chooses to pick cards because she can’t let lottie die. she would rather anyone else, including herself, die before her, and i think that really goes to show you the effect lottie had on van.

as always, nothing but love and good will to everyone who doesn't have any major problems with the plots/arcs/pacing of the show, i'm legit happy for you, go with god

buttttt there a lot of things about the structure of yj that don't work for me and i've got too much time on my hands so here's some things i would have liked to happen/not happen

foreshadow the howling

the biggest thing to take me out of it was the howling during hunts. both during the doomcoming travis hunt and the proper hunt at the end of s2 this just struck me as extremely silly. I think it would have worked much better if the idea of the yellowjackets howling at victorious moments was established. maybe we could see some of them howling after the states win, or maybe it could become a tradition to howl with joy whenever nat and travis bring home food.

2. no hunt in s2 finale

sorry but this felt so premature to me, like we've still got 2 or 3 more seasons left and we're already at the shirley jackson lottery phase? imo the core hook of the whole show, right from the first episode, is: how do we reconcile the regular teenage girls of the locker room scenes with the pagan cannibal cult of the pit girl scenes. That tension that is always in the back of your mind as a viewer was basically ruined for me by the hunt of 2.09. And it just felt so unearned.

my solution for this would be, instead of KILLING THEIR MOST DEDICATED CONTRIBUTOR to sustain lottie, everybody bleeds themselves into a bowl to make a blood punch for lottie (and the others) to drink. blood is actually pretty nourishing and the symbolism o this scene i think would be pretty powerful, especially if we see them doing all the normal lottie wilderness woo woo rites around it *even though lottie isn't' there*. i think this would be a much more measured beat in the arc of the yellowjackets.

3. adam martin lives

this is not related to the general pacing of the main storyline but i just think it was a creative misstep to kill him. it really cheapened his role in shauna's story for me, and i kinda hate how it ended up just being treated as a joke and how shauna doesn't even seem to gaf about it. plus it added a whole lot of unnecessary busywork to the adult timeline.

4. Laura Lee lives

This one i think just inherently makes the show more interesting, from the moment we met laura lee i was so excited to see how her faith would interact with the horrors of survival and whether or not she would eat jackie, and the fact that she just went boom and that was that really bummed me out. Like, imagine what an incredible friends to (lovers? to) nemeses story we could have had with her and lottie, with laura lee torn between her love for lottie/her desire to save her soul and the realization that she can't. killing laura lee so early seems like a really obvious missed opportunity.

5. show the fallout of doomcoming

i've been over this before and i won't natter on about it but, again, there was so much obvious interesting drama that was just ignored by the 2 month time jump between seasons 1 and 2. we don't really see anybody but shauna deal with jackie's death and their complicity in it (esp travis,), we don't see anybody apologize to travis for trying to fucking kill him (looking at you shauna), we don't see anybody confront misty over poisoning them. ig jackie was right. we really are just gonna not talk about it.

I could probably go on but i'm sure you're all bored enough by now lol.

in memory of Jackie Taylor, i do want to say something nice as well. The aesthetic, costuming and production is consistently fantastic -- the antler queen is honestly such a fucking iconic design, i can't believe nobody's done it before. The cast are incredible, the music slaps and i think by and large the show's character writing and theming is phenomenal. In particular, the story of Jackie and Shauna is fucking PERFECT tv, perfectly paced, perfectly acted, not a scene or line or silent glance is out of place. For that plot alone yj deserved the emmy.

I hope I don't come off as attacking, bc that's not my intention at all. This all comes from a place of love and hyperfixation, and once again, i have nothing but respect for those who disagree. I just had to get this all of my chest ig <3

A/N: Thanks, Anon! I always try hard to make sure the stuff I make about them is in line with their canon counterparts, but it can't be helped that some will just be out of character for them anyway. Moving aside from those, this was a bit rushed but I still hope you devour and enjoy it!

You were probably in one of her classes or friends with Jackie. At first, she doesn't really acknowledge your existence—too busy focusing solely on Jackie.

It isn’t until after a party that she and the rest of the Yellowjackets team are invited to that she does begins paying mind to you. What you did wasn't a big thing, to be honest!

You probably just, like, accompanied her for a while and complimented her outfit while she was moping over Jackie leaving her for Jeff again or something.

To your surprise, instead of being told to just leave her alone, Shauna actually lights up and starts talking to you; she thanks you for your compliment before talking about other things.

You guys don't even notice how much time passed with how invested you both were in your conversations with each other before someone from her team came to get her.

From then on, Shauna starts waving at you whenever she sees you around. She starts giving you these small (really cute) shy smiles when you two pass each other through the hallways.

It isn't long until it evolves to you guys striking up a conversation whenever you guys catch the other somewhere. You listen to Shauna, and she feels heard. She feels more seen.

Slowly but surely stuff changes between the two of you as you both get closer to each other. Shauna starts sneaking out of her house at night to meet you after dark, just hanging out with you in her car and talking for hours.

The conversations are just about whatever, school and gossip, the usual. But gradually it goes from that to Shauna spilling a lot of stuff she normally would just never tell anyone and keep to herself.

You guys start glancing at each other a lot, brush hands more often than friends should, and find a TON of excuses just to be physically close to each other.

When you guys are around the team, you both have to play it really cool. I mean, the team knows you two have been getting way too buddy pals with each other, but no one knows more than that.

Tai and Van has this vibe with you two. Natalie has this hunch. Jackie is oblivious to it. Laura Lee, Lottie, Mari, and Akilah feel like something's up with you guys while Misty is just in her own world entirely but she's like Nat too. She suspects something is going on between you guys.

You bet your ass that with how close you've become to Shauna, you get pretty good at reading her especially when she's hiding her emotions. You can tell when something's bothering her, and you're the one she immediately turns to when stuff blows up with Jackie or Jeff's existence pisses her off again.

As Shauna's feelings for you get deeper, she kinda starts pulling away from Jackie. Not just emotionally but also physically. Sure, Jackie is all wrapped up in her relationship with Jeff and her image. But when she starts noticing this? Oh boy, you are toasted. She lowkey starts controlling and preventing Shauna as much as she can from being with you anymore further than she likes.

This doesn't stop Shauna though. In fact, it just makes her spend more time with you. When it's just the two of you, her behavior completely changes. She's relaxed and affectionate (platonically 👀), more free and herself around you.

If the Yellowjackets characters were high school teachers, I feel like they would teach these subjects

Jackie: The principal with a homoerotic relationship with the English Lit teacher. The door’s locked whenever said teacher goes in for a “workplace meeting.” Occasionally scolding Nat for smoking in the classrooms but they smoke together behind the school when they think no one’s watching.

Shauna: The English Literature and languages teacher who gives off Emily Dickinson vibes. Only wears flannels to work and made the students depressed when they had to read Sylvia Plath. She also teaches French, she’s fluent in it but accidentally taught all the swear words when Jackie made her mad.

Natalie: The biology and chemistry teacher. Everyone loves her classes as she teaches the about the chemical properties of weed and other drugs. She also teaches the students how to blow stuff up and may have ordered one or two suspicious chemicals under the school’s budget. Think Lucifer when he taught those kids how to grow and market weed. The students think she’s dating the Art and Philosophy teacher but no one can prove it.

Lottie: The Art and Philosophy teacher. She has a calming energy which the students love, especially when they’ve just left Nat’s class. They feel like they’ve joined a cult. Philosophy class is just as fun, Lottie says the most random things and the students will discuss it. For example, the students had an hour long discussion about the wilderness and how prolonged exposure would affect the human mind. The students think that her classes are purposely after Nat’s classes so that their classrooms are next to each other.

Taissa: I wanna say she’s the Vice Principal but also the PE teacher . As the VP, she’s really nice, comforting and will support the students no matter what. But as the PE teacher, she becomes an army drill sergeant. The students fear her class and wonder why they have to play soccer for every session. And sometimes she teaches Geography which extends to random field trips to the woods where she teaches the students how to navigate their way out.

Van: Idk why but she gives off Maths/ Physics teacher vibes. She would always draw a relation to both subjects and somehow teaches college level stuff by accident. She shares teaching geography with Tai but always ends up telling the story of how she was attacked by a pack of wolves and survived.

Misty: The school nurse. Everyone’s pretty sure the food poisoning ordeal was caused by her but they don’t have proof. She somehow can sense when someone is injured and is by their side before they can run from her. She hasn’t been fired because Jackie’s slightly afraid of what she’ll do if she does.

Laura Lee: I’m gonna go with religion. She leads a prayer circle before class starts and while she looks like a cinnamon roll, she can throw hands. The last parent who told her that God will punish gay people ran out of the classroom, fearing for his life. The students think she has a situationship with Lottie but it’s hard to tell.

Mari: The home economics teacher. She’s sarcastic all the time and will teach students how to cook the most random food. They might learn how to cook bear meat for one class than learn why boiling leather belts in water does not make for good soup.

✰ I can also see her minoring in French! Yes, Lottie isn't supposed to be good at French, but I think that's a complete lie. If her school doesn't have a French program, she'd 100% start an after-school club or run summer classes for students interested in learning

Misty

✰ I could see Misty sticking with nursing, but she's also a giant theater kid. She seems like the type to go to a small liberal arts school for musical theater or improve with huge dreams of acting on stage

✰ I really think she'd find a great community in a theater/arts program because even though she's always gonna be a weirdo, she'll definitely find more weirdos to be her friends (this is coming from someone who has theater majors as friends)

✰ This could be some of my own self-projecting, but I think she'd get really involved in the nightlife of college and eventually frequent the drag scene with her friends. She's also always going to rocky horror. Ultimately that's how she realizes she's gay

Natalie

✰ I think the only way Natalie is going to school is on a full-ride scholarship, but even then, college doesn't seem like her thing. I could see her following one/some of the girls to their college campus to screw around and figure herself out, living some of the college life without actually going to school

✰ Natalie would try to pursue a music career, no questions asked. She's shown to have a love for music and she already looks like a rock star, so it just makes the most sense for her. She'll crash on couches, eventually getting her own apartment while she writes her own music and I think she could eventually really take off

✰ she'd get a band together and eventually tour, writing music kinda along the lines of classic rock and grunge with some riot girl in the mix. Think pearl jam, foo fighters, and le tigre (all great groups that I highly recommend)

Shauna

✰ Shauna is 100% getting a Literary Arts degree, no questions asked. Or an English degree with a focus on creative writing

✰ She gets to explore herself, take her semester abroad in Paris like she'd hoped, and eventually she becomes a New York Times bestseller for her works of poetry

✰ She'd also delve into fiction and I could even see some of her work getting turned into limited series or films eventually. She's quite humble and lives a quiet life, though she enjoyed being in the spotlight for her work

Taissa

✰ I still think Tai would study law and become a Lawyer and potentially still go into politics. But part of me kinda wants to say she'd take an interest in environmental science and possibly become an environmental lawyer?

✰ I really don't know why I thought of that, but I think it would be really interesting for her. I think she'd still end up with Simone and Sammy and she'd go to New York for work a lot of the time

✰ If she did run for office again, she'd have a heavy focus on environmental conservation. I could also see her getting into National Park works

Van

✰ So, originally I kinda thought Van would be a dropout, which sounds bad, but I was thinking about her store. But then I realized that she'd only got her store because she was stuck trying to relive her life before the crash, so no crash, no store

✰ Ultimately, she's a film major. She's either getting a film studies or production degree. Van loves movies and would want to get involved with that world, creating movies like what she grew up watching, like The Goonies and Alien

✰ She absolutely hates remakes and remasters, so if she's directing or writing her own films, they're going to be originals that still hold the nostalgia of the 80s and 90s

The concept of control, miscommunication, and the need of communication that was not used(character wise) in Yellowjackets.

Now I love this show with my whole heart but that doesn’t mean one can simply agree with the character’s actions within the story.

Concept 1): Control.

Within the show we see both intentional and unintentional control.

For example, Jackie. She was shown to have a longing to be the leader as it was her position given. She tries to give out orders instead of suggestions as she always had control, had order. She was never meant to be a leader, but that power and control was given to her so she did believe it would stay that way within the wilderness. That control and order was something she was used to, it made her stubborn as she was used to getting her own way. She had that control and intentionally tried to regain the control. She had that intent to regain that order she ever so determined as her own.

I had to ask the opinion of one of my friends for this, but for unintentional control Lottie was mentioned pretty heavily. She was made the leader and helped them survive. She was seen as something similar to a prophet, and was their leader until she passed that down to Natalie.

Concept 2): Miscommunication.

Now, miscommunication is a common thing especially within a dangerous situation. Oftentimes this can be seen in a multitude of the interactions between characters.

For specifics, Laura Lee and Lottie. Now, when Lottie starts to have these visions she goes to Laura Lee for an understanding. Lottie was only experiencing these visions and prophecies due to being off her medication and possibly something in the wilderness but Laura Lee interpreted that as ‘God communicating with her’.

3): Why communication was needed.

Communication could have prevented a lot of things. From Javi’s death, to Misty destroying the box.

Javi’s death could have been prevented if the stakes were lowered. His death showed their full dissension into madness. If they possibly had been able to talked to each other many things could have been prevented.

For Misty, everything could have been different. Such as her destroying the box. That communicator could have been their savior. It was more than likely that someone was tuned into their flight as it was a private flight which would take priority.

Overall, communication between them could have prevented many things, and this is just going off of the ‘96 timeline.
